Erin, I really enjoy reading your articles. This one forced me to take a step back and just take in the totality of our ecological failure. The totality of the state capture that has washed over the entire planet. And the totality of our failure as a species to break free of the media manipulation that has humanity divided and confused about an issue that is already physically and financially affecting us all. No one can honestly say that they don't see the temperature rising. What they don't see is how our broken system leads directly to ecological breakdown and then directly to personal pain. Most people have no idea how clearly these dots connect.
I agree Brad. I think many people who are active in the climate space don’t realise either. But we need people to know, otherwise we’ll forever be trying to treat the symptoms rather than the root cause.
Everyday I am reading wonderful articles from lots of different people about the current situation. How do we get everyone to work together for change?
Good question! My thoughts are that we each work where our strengths are. Some people have a natural talent for organising and movement building, I hope we can reach those people with this message. The space I’m trying to work in is that there’s nowhere near enough awareness of the predicament that we are in yet, even in “climate” groups. There’s a lot of work to do in simply getting people on board, given the huge failures of mainstream media.
